Pro pH Meter — Backlit, 3-Point Calibration

Details

A step up from a basic pH pen: three-point calibration, automatic temperature compensation, and a display that turns red when the reading leaves the safe range so you notice from across the room.

  • Three-point calibration. Calibrates against 4.00, 6.86 and 9.18 buffers and recognises which one it is in. A single-point pen drifts at the ends of the scale, which is precisely where a problem shows up.
  • Backlit out-of-range alarm. The backlight goes red below 3.5 and above 12.5 pH. On a planted tank running CO2 this is the reading you want to catch early, not at the next water change.
  • Automatic temperature compensation. pH readings shift with temperature. The meter reads temperature and corrects, and shows both.
  • Replaceable probe. The electrode is the part that ages. A meter with a detachable probe is repairable; a sealed one is disposable.
  • English display and controls. Worth stating plainly, because a lot of gear at this price arrives with Chinese-only button legends.

Questions about this light

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the basic pH pen?+

Three-point calibration instead of one, temperature compensation, a backlit out-of-range alarm, and a replaceable electrode. If you only need a rough weekly check, the basic pen is enough.

How often does it need calibrating?+

Monthly for a tank, more often if you keep it in storage solution rather than dry. Any pH meter that has not been calibrated recently is a guess with a decimal point on it.

Can I use it for hydroponics as well?+

Yes — same measurement, and the three-point calibration matters more in nutrient solution than in a tank.
